Derived from the Gaelic name "MacDubhghaill," meaning "son of Dubhghall" — where "dubh" represents the dark and mysterious, and "gall" the foreign wanderer — our whiskey is a celebration of this lineage. The spirit is crafted as an homage to our family, with the name passing down through generations, symbolizing unity and pride.
In our family, the MacDowell name echoes through the ages, connecting our ancestors to the present. From our mother’s Maxfield side, this name became a middle name for our brother Douglas and nephew, a tribute to their ancestry. Just like Doug, who is known for his legendary, boisterous laugh—heard from Glen to Glen—this whiskey boasts a bold character that fills the room with its presence.
